IT’S SUMMER all year round in sweltering Singapore!
To get away from the stifling hot city streets, we took our model Andrea Yeo to Sentosa.
The fresh air was exactly what we needed. With delicious cocktails by our side, and sand between our toes, the shoot was a breeze. Andrea hardly broke a sweat – she’s a hot yoga instructor, that’s why. (And by hot, we mean chio, as well as hot yoga, as in, yes, yoga in a heated room.)
At Tanjong Beach Club, we dressed her in cute little beachy outfits, which exuded a shy hint of sexiness. A little terry playsuit hinted at fun. Halter neck tops and dresses revealed a little skin. A Hawaiian boy’s shirt acted as a fun cover-up. And a long wrap skirt doubled up as a sarong dress. For accessories, bright, shiny baubles made an appearance, as well as a little silver charm bracelet.

Andrea sizzles by the pool in a 1970s vintage blue halter dress (S/M) with bright floral accents.
Half orange, half white! Fun vintage bangle adds some pizazz to a sun dress.
Chillin' by the bar in an embroidered 1970s halter top (S/M) worn with really cute high waist purple printed shorts (XS). A green beaded bracelet adds a jingly touch, and vintage sunglasses top it all off.
We love this combo! Sexy but not slutty!

Show off your legs in a terry cloth playsuit (S) with white piping! It's adjustable at the side so you can choose how short you want it to be. Worn with a multi-colour beaded necklace and a bright orange beaded bracelet.

We love little boys' Hawaiian shirts, cos they always look quirky and unusual compared to everything else that every other girl wears on the beach! The rayon fabric keeps you cool, and the prints make you smile. This one is a size S/M.

Is she a Bond girl, hehehe! Crochet vest (S) shows peekaboo skin when worn over a brown bikini. Matched with a long sea shell necklace.
Strike a pose! This nice wall at TBC is a perfect backdrop. Here, a super long Hawaiian print long wrap skirt doubles up at as a halter sarong dress.
It's the bee-yoo-ti-ful print that makes the skirt what it is!

FINALLY. A photo shoot dedicated to vintage costume jewellery!
If you’re anything like us, you just might understand.
1. Perhaps you’re the sort of woman who changes her jewellery every day.
2. Perhaps you’re the sort who decides – in reverse – what jewellery to wear, before picking out an outfit.
3. You ponder over whether you should adorn the neck, ears or wrists.
4. You mull over wearing earrings and a necklace together is too much.
5. You contemplate how many huge rings you can possibly stack on your fingers without them getting in the way of eating and typing.
6. Perhaps you don’t hide your jewellery in a velvet box. Instead, you display it for all – more likely, just you – to see.
7. You marvel at the construction of old jewellery and mutter under your breath, “They just don’t make them like this anymore.”
It’s borderline obsession. And we hope we don’t sound airy in our heads.
“The Art of Adornment” is devoted to chunky vintage jewellery: the bigger, the bolder, the better.
For the shoot, we photographed a lovely girl by the name of Michelle Yow. The scene was set at House and Beauty Emporium – two spaces beautifully awash with natural light in the Dempsey area.
Blessed with big doe eyes, sun-kissed skin and an infectious smile, Michelle was a breeze to shoot. We draped her with baubles from the ‘50s to the ‘80s, each piece a statement on its own – neither shy or reticent, nor meant for shrinking violets. Easily taken from day to night, dressed up or down, these fun, easy trinkets add spunk to any simple outfit.

Stun them dead with these knock-off-their-socks dramatic reticulated gold-plated earrings from the 1950s. They look heavy, but are surprisingly very light!

1960s charm bracelet with faceted turquoise baubles.
Drop dead gorgeous! 1950s-1960s rhinestone earrings with a coral bead in the middle, citrine marquise stones and a tasselled drop. You can't quite see it here, but three of the four tasselled ends hold three round beads, and one holds, surprisingly, a tiny citrine stone. Attention to detail, is what we say!
Breathtaking! We love this feather-patterned bracelet from the 1950s marked "Lisner". On her finger, a 1960s gold-toned hammered ring with a pearl in the centre.
